the Kicks Review
The Kicks had great night at their recent show in Plymouth which featured a special guest appearance by Troy Tate. They were followed by concert photographer Andrew Macdonald from Gigatude.co.uk who has written the following review...
"The Kicks are a 5 piece rock covers band with a very professional attitude and stage setup. Not content with showing up with their equipment and playing a gig like most bands do, The Kicks travel with their own sound technician who did a great job of keeping feedback to a minimum… no mean feat considering how close the speakers were to the rest of the band. He also controlled the lighting – 8 LED Par Cans which did a good job of keeping the band well lit.
The musicianship and vocal talent of the band was superb. As someone who attends many gigs per week, I tend to watch out for mistakes and bummed notes, but I was sorely disappointed in that regard. The band featured three guitarists, a drummer and two singers. The three guitarists were fantastic, very talented and in total sync with each other.
I can honestly say that The Kicks played their socks off at The Staddy, banging out songs like Rolling In The Deep, Sweet Home Alabama, and anthems like Sex on Fire and Chelsea Dagger. The crowd had a blast from start to finish, and at one point, the dance floor was heaving.
I had the opportunity to meet the band during the break, and they all seemed like genuine down-to-earth people who did it for the love of music. Having heard so much about them, I can honestly say The Kicks are awesome, and I wish them every success."
